Abundant Fall Harvest and Updates

Fall Harvest: Last Saturday farmers brought their bountiful harvests to the Coppell Farmers Market, and we welcomed back long-time farm and vendor D-Bar Farms.  At this time more than ten growers and ranchers are IMG_7026providing the Coppell community with the best locally produced vegetables and meats. This season’s produce haul has included persimmons, heirloom tomatoes, winter squash and sweet potatoes, a variety of greens- like kale, mustards, and Chinese cabbage, root vegetables such as carrots, beets, and turnips, plus regular summer favorites like zucchini and green beans. See What’s Fresh for the whole list. Plan your visit while the gettin’s good; the first frost of the season is just a few weeks out!

Weekly Children’s Garden Class: What’s Growing, the weekly garden meet up for kids continues to take place on Saturdays at 10:30am. LearningGarden2This is quick class where children learn what’s in season, harvest from the garden, and occasionally plant. Participants are encouraged to arrive no later than 10:30, as the meet up can come to a close as early as 10:45. This Saturday, November 12th, the garden educator will read a short story and learners will harvest kale, cotton and green onions. The Coppell Farmers Market Learning Garden is located near the splash pad.

Winter Market: The Coppell FM is one of the only markets in DFW that remains open through the winter. Many of our farmers plant winter crops in greenhouses especially for our market’s shoppers. Artisan food producers sell cookies, fresh bread, cheese, scratch-made tamales and empanadas , and so much more all winter long. Open the first and third Saturdays in December, and the second and fourth Saturdays from January-March, 8am-noon.
