Farmers Market Week Wrap Up

Thanks to all who celebrated National Farmers Market Week with the CFM last Saturday! To celebrate we hosted two educational events: Zero Waste Food Storage, and the first POP Club for kids!

More about Zero Waste Food Storage:

As part of the ongoing education and cooking programs at the Coppell Farmers Market, TexasFarmerGal gave a presentation on how to store produce purchases so they last as long as possible, thus zero-waste food storage. She demonstrated proper food storage techniques for various foods. Where to store produce so that it retains its best qualities? Which veggies to store on the countertop, in the fridge, in containers or loose, frozen or in mason jars? Her handout gives great info.

More about POPClub:

POP Club is a new program for CFM, made possible by a grant from the National Farmers Market Coalition and Chipotle. Last Saturday children visited the Learning Garden, taste-tested produce, created vegetable sculptures and received $5 in POP Cash to spend at the CFM! Learn more about upcoming POPClub classes.
