Market Day Cashier

Position: Cashier

Start Date: September 5, 2026
Hours: Part-Time. 7:30 am-12:30 pm every Market Day, plus one hour of remote office time per week.
Reports to: Market Manager during Market Day hours, and Market Executive Director during remote office hours. 
Compensation: $20.00 per hour.
Duration: The Farmers Market runs weekly from April through December (excluding Thanksgiving and Christmas weekends), and part-time (2nd & 4th Saturdays) from January to March.  

Position Description: The Coppell Farmers Market is looking for an outgoing and dependable person to oversee the Market’s cash register sales and Market currency distribution. The preferred candidate will have previous cashier experience and be highly responsible. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Market Currency: Accurately distribute and collect Market currency to customers and vendors, and manage Market currency inventory.
  • Sales Transactions: Process token sales and voucher distributions accurately using two point-of-sale systems, and document all sales and distributions on log sheets. 
  • Cash Duties: Handle cash management, including end-of-day token reimbursements to vendors, giving cash change to vendors as needed, and counting cash at the end of the shift. 
  • Customer Interaction: Engage with customers in a friendly manner, providing assistance and answering vendor- and product-related questions.
  • Program Knowledge: Ability to explain our food access programs: SNAP/EBT sales and related Double Up Food Bucks, WIC, and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program.  

Skills Required 

  •  Previous cashier experience preferred. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to accurately handle cash, cards, and related documentation.
  • Must be responsible, dependable, and display a high level of integrity
