Location: Hybrid/Remote (North Texas) and Coppell, TX for event days and meetings.
Classification: Part-Time, 25-30 Hours per Week, Depending on Time of Year. Regular Saturday and Occasional Weeknight Availability Required.

Our Mission: A Coppell-based 501(c) nonprofit organization that supports and strengthens small farms, food-makers, and the local community by operating a farmers market, prioritizing food access for all, and developing educational programs and resources. 

Position Summary: The Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Market, including managing staff, vendor relations, site logistics, marketing and financial aspects, and ensuring the smooth running of the market during each market day and throughout the season; essentially, the Operations Manager is in charge of all the practical aspects to keep the Market functioning effectively. The Operations Manager supervises the Support Staff team and reports to the Market Director.

 

What you’ll be doing: 

  • Vendor management:
    Recruiting, onboarding, and managing vendor relationships, including ensuring compliance with market rules and regulations, fostering a positive market experience, and making recommendations for improving the efficiency and economy of existing operations and regulations. 
  • Site logistics:
    Arranging market layout, assigning vendor spaces, managing traffic flow, and coordinating with the Market Director for any additional needs. Maintaining supply inventory, working order of equipment, and signage, and requesting purchases as needed. 
  • Staff supervision:
    Hiring, training, and scheduling market staff (Assistants and Cashier). 
  • Financial oversight:
    Handling market fees & vendor payments, as well as related reporting. 
  • Compliance and permits:
    Ensuring vendors adhere to all local health and safety regulations and obtaining necessary permits.
  • Customer service:
    Addressing customer concerns, providing information about vendors and products, and fostering a positive market experience. 
  • Administrative:
    Holding regular and consistent office hours to ensure accessibility to vendors, staff, and Market leadership. Attending weekly meetings with the Market Director. Grant writing and fundraising support. Attending evening meetings, including Farmers Market Ad Hoc Advisory and Task Force Committee meetings, City Council annual report, and Texas Farmers Market Manager meetings. Maintaining documents, templates, and reports, and interpreting and analyzing data to further organizational missions, expansion, or funding requests. 
  • Marketing and promotion:
    Assistance with promoting the market through various channels, managing market branding, and maintaining website Vendor Profile pages and harvest listings.

You’re a great fit for this job if: 

  • You are passionate about agriculture, local food systems, food access, and community building. 
  • You have 3+ years of work experience in a relevant field, preferably in Farmers Markets or nonprofit organizations.
  • You have at least two years of experience in a supervisory role. 

 

Compensation:

  • $40,000 annual salary
  • $125 monthly stipend for health expenses
  • Paid Holidays and Flexible Scheduling
