Part-Time Market Day Assistant

The Coppell Farmers Market is a Coppell-based nonprofit that supports and strengthens small farms, food-makers, and the local community by operating a farmers market, prioritizing food access for all, and developing educational programs and resources.

Compensation 

  • Hourly compensation - $20/hour 

Hours and Dates Required: 

  • Saturdays, 6:30 am – 1:00 pm 
  • Each Day Staff will average 15-20 Saturday shifts per year, or 1-3 Saturday shifts per month. 

Job description: 

  • Work as a team with the Market Manager or Director to set up and break down the farmers market, including the info and token booths, signage, and other equipment as needed in all weather conditions. 
  • Understand and represent CFM’s mission, vendor policies, and procedures. 
  • Perform safety checks and enforce safety rules with vendors as needed. 
  • Field general customer comments/questions.
  • Relay customer comments/complaints to the Market Manager or Director as needed. 
  • Occasionally substitute for the role of the cashier (token sales, cashbox balancing) or customer service at the CFM Information booth.  
  • Support Market Management with all market operations, as needed. 
  • Work in all weather conditions, including rain, extreme heat, freezing temperatures, and high winds.

  • Communicate up to 6.5 hours on market days with staff, vendors, and customers.
  • Walking and regular movement for up to 6.5 hours at a time; minimum 1 paid break provided. 
  • Regularly move up to 60 lbs during setup and break down with the help of carts, dollies, and another staff person. 

Additional Responsibilities 

  • Maintain weekday communications with Market Managers & provide timely feedback. 
  • Assist with occasional weekday market site and supply preparations.

  • Independently motivated but works well as part of a team 
  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions before sunrise and in daylight 
  • Customer service experience 

Preferred but Not Required: 

  • Background or expressed interest in sustainable agriculture and local foods
