The last Saturday in March marked the first Saturday of a Garden Class for Kids series at the Coppell Farmers Market Learning Garden. At the opening of the class children gathered around Farmers Market Manager, known to her students as “Farmer Amanda”, to listen to story book Compost Stew. Following the book everyone got down in the dirt! Participants reached deep into pile of compost and tossed it atop the young plants growing in the garden. We planted some seeds, a couple of tomato plants, and then wished them good luck as we moved on to the closing activity. Stop by the Learning Garden to see if you can spot the beautiful creations the children made for the garden!
The next class in the series will take place in June, date TBA. The final class will take place in the fall. In the meantime, bring your kiddos to “What’s Growing?” a time for children to come together at the Learning Garden to find out what’s growing– scheduled to take place every market day at 10:30am.
