SNAP Accepted at This Farmers Market

Acting on the principle that access to fresh, wholesome food should be available to people of all income levels, the Coppell Farmers Market accepts the Lone Star EBT Card used in Texas for SNAP, formerly known as food stamps. SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits can be used to purchase food items and vegetable and herb plants.

BONUS:  SNAP recipients receive a voucher for a dollar-to-dollar match of their SNAP benefits, up to $10, to be used on their next visit to the Coppell Farmers Market. How is this expense covered? A portion of the income from the Farm to Table Dinner is dedicated to cover the vouchers and the cost of the internet connection required for the use of the cards at the market.

IT’S EASY:  Go to the CFM hospitality table in the center of the pavilion, run your SNAP/Lone Star Card, receive $1 tokens that can be used like cash with market vendors for food items and potted vegetable and herb plants. Unused tokens may be returned to the table for credit back on the card, or kept for future shopping trips.

COMMUNITY VALUES:  This program first serves the individual or family by providing fresh food, then it puts money in the pocket of a local farmer or food producer. When people of all income levels have access to high quality fresh food, the whole community benefits. And the Coppell FM serves as an authentic community event when residents of all income levels can participate in healthy lifestyle choices.
