The Coppell Farmers Market's third annual Farm to Table dinner was held Saturday, June 8, 2013. The dinner carried a higher purpose than just al fresco dining, though it was a lovely affair featuring an incredible menu. As pointed out by Kim Pierce, special contributor to The Dallas Morning News, "The point of the dinner, besides just a great occasion for a get-together, was to show what can be achieved when farmers and chefs work together to use in-season local ingredients". Because culinary students were the cooks, they learned first-hand how to plan an elegant menu using fresh, local food.
Those in attendance had heightened appreciation of seasonal dishes - both artfully presented and delicious. Proceeds from the event support the market's acceptance of the Lone Star card (food stamps), thus ensuring healthy food access for all. Proceeds will also be used for market promotion as we transition to a permanent location in the Main Street Coppell development.
