David Blair’s culinary background began at an early age. His mother died when he was about 8 years old, leaving his father to prepare meals for David and his 2 ½ year old sister. His sister did not like her father’s cooking, so David taught himself and then started cooking for his sister, eventually becoming a professional chef. His self-taught education was a success as he won a cooking contest and became the executive chef at a restaurant. So with no formal culinary education, he has been a successful part of the restaurant business for 32 years.
Blair is now the District Manager of North Texas Operations for Hard Eight BBQ, a Go Texan restaurant recognized by the Texas Department of Agriculture as an eating establishment using local products. Blair and Hard Eight BBQ have long supported the Coppell Farmers Market by donating sandwiches, drinks and personnel as part of Customer Appreciation Day and Vendor Appreciation Day. Saturday marks his third year to present a chef demo as part of our Market to Kitchen Program.
