The CFM Pinterest page features well-organized recipes that use products sold at the farmers market. Feel the passion of committee member Janine Allard who expanded the page into the resource it is now.

I love food. More specifically, I love fresh food, made from scratch with wholesome ingredients, so I’m always looking for new recipes!

When I first started shopping at the Coppell Farmers Market, I thought it would be nice if there was a way for shoppers to obtain recipes using the ingredients they purchase at our farmers market. Since Pinterest is my go-to source for healthy recipes, when I began volunteering for the Coppell Farmers Market, I knew our Pinterest page would be a great way to share recipes with customers.

I love that Pinterest allows you to search for a recipe by a specific ingredient. I try to find recipes for our CFM Pinterest page that include foods found at the farmers market that people might not know how to cook (bok choy, kohlrabi, etc.) as well as customer favorites (cucumber, kale, eggs, etc.). To help save time in your searches, I’ve organized the Pinterest boards alphabetically by food with fun names such as “Bring on the Basil” and “Oh My Okra!”

We even have a “Kid Friendly” board because we think it’s wonderful to get your kids in the kitchen, let them help prepare foods and teach them about nutrition. During dinner, my daughters often ask, “Which vitamins does this food have? Does this have protein for my muscles or calcium for my teeth?” I’ve found that kids are much more likely to eat their veggies if they know WHY they’re important.

If you can grow something with your kids to get them interested in vegetables, even better. It’s pretty awesome to plant a seed, watch it grow and then get to eat it! My kids tell me that everything they grow tastes better, and I agree. Gardening can be a good way to get kids excited about veggies and more willing to try new foods from the farmers market. If you’ve never planted anything before, I recently added a “Gardening” board to help you get started.

I assure you, the CFM Pinterest page is not all vegetables. If you’re looking for something sweet, there are many desserts, including a decadent blueberry swirl cheesecake recipe, that are amazing. You can also find “Colorful Cocktails” and “Pleased to Meat You” boards to help you plan your summer parties and impress your guests.

We are fortunate to have one of the best farmers markets in the country right here in Coppell. My hope is that our Coppell Farmers Market Pinterest page will be a valuable resource to help our customers try new foods and become more adventurous with their cooking. Happy Pinning!
