The Coppell Farmers Market is pleased to welcome our first ever market manager, Amanda Austin! While the CFM Committee will remain active, Amanda is stepping in to help with vendor communications, marketing, and she will represent CFM in the community and local food movement.
Amanda has worked in agriculture for seven years, and has owned and operated her own urban, educational farm for more than five years. She is deeply connected to North Texas farmers, local food efforts and agriculture organizations including TOFGA (Texas Organic Farmers and Growers), the TXYFC (Texas Young Farmer Coalition), and the City of Denton’s Sustainability Program.
Although she grew up in Keller, Amanda identifies as a Dentonite because her grandparents grew up there and because she earned her degree from University of North Texas. Her work has included the management of an organic vegetable production, as well as writing/directing farm-based educational programming such as field trips and summer camps for school aged children and internships for college students.
She lives with her husband and daughter on their farm in Denton, where she now leases land and equipment to aspiring farmers and grows cut flowers for fun.
“While transitioning from full time farmer to farmers market manager feels big, this opportunity for change in my path also couldn’t be more perfect. It feels great to maintain a connection to the work and community that has meant so much to me. The Coppell Farmers Market committee is a wonderful team of people and I am honored to work with them in support of North Texas growers and producers.” — Amanda Austin
